Ram wrestling begins with several weight classes not filled

The Greene County Ram wrestling team filled just four weight classes at a dual meet in Van Meter to open the season Dec. 1.

The Rams lost to Ogden 54-6. Cayden Gerdes at 132 lbs won by decision 4-2 over Zach Waterbury and Isaiah Yoder at 170 lbs won by decision 6-3 over Logan Sturtz. Isaac Ireland at 138 lbs lost by fall in 4:51 to Jacob Kathman and Hunter Ruth at 195 lbs lost by fall in 1:25 to Nick Ross.

The Rams lost go Van Meter 42-18. Yoder won by fall in 1:59 over Noah Hale, and Gerdes and Ireland both won by forfeit. Ruth lost by fall in 1:o4 to Isaac Benton.

Two junior varsity wrestlers also made the trip to Van Meter. Garrett McDowll lost by fall in 1:01, and Justice Davis lost by fall in 3:29. Weight classes were not provided for the JV wrestlers.
